The Namib Desert
Today I am writting to you from Swakopmund. This is one city on the sea side. The last two days we spent in the Nambib desert. It was really amaizing experience - red sand and blue sky, endless roads. Evey 300 kilometers there is a petrol station! And every single house is counted as a village. Namibia has only 2.2 million inhabitants. The most people live in the Windhoeh, Swakopmund or in the North. So you can drive for hours without seeing another car or village. The Namib desert is supposed to be the oldest on earth and the one with the highests sand dunes. We climbed a couple of them. We visited the Sossusvllei, the Dethvlei and the Dune 45 - they are all numbered :). The previous tree nights we spent on different places. Desert Camp, Desert Lodge and Guesthouse here in Swakopmnd. The service everywhere is perfect. When you go to the restaurant the waiter first is having a chat woith you about your day and your impressions and than is telling you "I am your personal waiter for tonight" :). Yesterday we had dinner at the "Kupferpfanne" wehere very delicious fish meals are served in big hot pans. The "Bratkrtoffeln" were very German as also almost all the people there. In a couple of hours we are departing for Spitzkope - a mountain nearby.
