From Ameib throuth Twyfelfontain to Etosha
Another stop on our journey was the Ameib Ranch with wonderfull mountains and rock formations called Bull's Party. Very impressive huge stone balls as they were made by an artist and just spead there. We enjoyed the sun down at this place. On the next day we departed for Twyfelfontain. A place where very old cave drawings were found. These belong to the UNESCO World Heritage. Anyway it was not really very exciting. Not so much as our journey on the gravel roads five hours a day - for those of you who know what Power Plate training means just immagine five hours Power Plate by 35 degrees!
So now I am writing to you from Rundu. This is a small city right on the Okavango river on the border to Angola. How I came here and why I am not writing to you every day. Even if Etosha is a realy famous it is stil a national park where not much civilization can be found. The lodges and camps are really perfect but internet is unknown for them. I must say Africa is completely different than Asia in respect to high tech - namely there is no! And this is true not only for Etosha but for the whole country. So I am now wondering how to explain my experience from Etosha without showing you pictures - I am sitting in an internet cafe without having the possibility to upload pictures.
Etosha is realy great. After entering the park a few kilometers away from the main road we met our first giraffe. On the watter hole in our first camp there were even more and also one rhino. But the show is even more exiciting if you interrupt watching the game and take a look at the audience - wearing very high tech equipment starting at one kg per object lens. But its worth to have it. You can even take pictures of the lions teeth :) We saw lions indeed on our second day and it was really amazing.
I hopw I can tell you more about this next time. Now I have to go - to Botswana.
Swakopmund and Cape Cross
I don't know what is the best description for Swakopmund, one quite big city on the Atlantic seaside in Namibia - maybe the best is to compare it with a German North Sea village. It's about 20 degrees colder than the rest of the country, there is fog every day and sand storms almost every day. So this time it was not so hard for me to leave the sea. After we made a short round throuth the town we left for Cape Cross. A National Park with a settelment of sea lions. Very beautiful but very stinky animals. I made a small video of them for you unfortunatelly you are not going to get te same feeling because smell was not recorded :)

The Namib Desert
Today I am writting to you from Swakopmund. This is one city on the sea side. The last two days we spent in the Nambib desert. It was really amaizing experience - red sand and blue sky, endless roads. Evey 300 kilometers there is a petrol station! And every single house is counted as a village. Namibia has only 2.2 million inhabitants. The most people live in the Windhoeh, Swakopmund or in the North. So you can drive for hours without seeing another car or village. The Namib desert is supposed to be the oldest on earth and the one with the highests sand dunes. We climbed a couple of them. We visited the Sossusvllei, the Dethvlei and the Dune 45 - they are all numbered :). The previous tree nights we spent on different places. Desert Camp, Desert Lodge and Guesthouse here in Swakopmnd. The service everywhere is perfect. When you go to the restaurant the waiter first is having a chat woith you about your day and your impressions and than is telling you "I am your personal waiter for tonight" :). Yesterday we had dinner at the "Kupferpfanne" wehere very delicious fish meals are served in big hot pans. The "Bratkrtoffeln" were very German as also almost all the people there. In a couple of hours we are departing for Spitzkope - a mountain nearby.

Windhoek - very German!
After 10 hours flight to Johannesburg and almost 2 hours flight to Windhoek we arrived on Namibian ground. The flight was OK. And now I am a certified test engineer :) I managed it to crash my entertainment system in the airplane. Well I just pushed some buttons and tried to get the audio channel on :) as I got the shell screen!
And so we are in Windhoek and have endless blue sky, palm trees and almost no people. The German guy who gave us the car told us that on the weekend here is "tote Hose" :) and gave us a "geheim" tip to go to Joes Bierhaus. Really fancy place where we had our first game meal - Kudu, Zebra, Gemsbock, Springbock. Very delicios, and the place is a realy nice beer garden! so now we are leaving to the Sossusvlei!
